8 Mile

Eminem is convincing in this hip hop remake of The Karate Kid. Every cliche is exploited to maximum effect with particular kudos for getting Kim Bassinger as his trailer trash mum, i'm sure the remit was the best looking woman who could possibly have spawned him. It'd be good to see Eminem acting someone other than himself as he is really good in this film. The scene where Xibit and middle aged woman engage in an improtu freestyle "battle" while getting their breakfast beggars belief. One of the better plane films i've seen recently.

Analyze That

Sequel to the film "Analyze This" where Billy Crystal plays a psycho analyst treating Robert Deniro as a mobster with mental issues. The first film (also seen on a plane) was pretty funny for the first half then went totally shite. This one is actually better with Deniro on top form. He doesn't quite reach the peaks of the plane film to end all plane films "Meet The Parents" but is pretty funny all in. It also meets the criteria that beffits a good plane film in that you really don't give two fucks how it ends. Pleasantly pointless.

Catch Me If You Can

As with most films i watch on planes i wouldn't be caught dead paying money to see a film like this. Spielberg of late has poured so much schmaltz on his films but this was actually not too bad. Its saving grace is Christopher Walken who is superb as the down trodden father who's hard time at the hands of the system is used as an excuse for his son (Leonardo Di Caprio)'s impressive fraudulant lifestyle. Quite long too which is always good on a long haul.
