Nearly Done! Good day. We are almost finished mixing our howling hawk of a new record and we're so pleased with it that we might never release it and instead just put it on our own iPod shuffles and walk the streets of Glasgow, never speaking, Syd-Barrett-style forever. It's got it all, dreamy ballads about forbidden love gone awry, one minute pointless instrumentals and even some spoken word about the future of the music industry in India. If and when you allow yourself to hear these bitching jams you're going to want to buy some seriously good crystal meth just to take the edge off. You know how Radiohead let their album be downloaded for free? Well, our very own John Cummings had his own method of doing this when he left his new mogwai-new-album-containing laptop in Nice n Sleazies by accident the other night. Don't worry, it's all fine. Okay, just a wee update. I hope you are all well. Barry |

Moron Of The Week “The O2 is a corporate venue if what you mean by corporate is that the toilets aren't overflowing, there are plenty of bars, the sound is great and everyone can see the bands,”. This piece of unadulterated drivel was uttered by Steve Sutherland in The Times who is an old fart who has something to do with the NME and probably claims to have invented Britpop or some other shite. Here's a bit of news Steve. The O2 is called a corporate venue because its named after a mobile phone company. You are a moron. Stuart Braithwaite |

Recording Update Right, here what's happening. Today is our last day of recording with Andy Miller at Chem 19. We're just mixing a song called Dracula Family thats going to be on a Rock Action cover cd on Plan B magazine in a few months. Today we're going to try and remember if there's anything we've forgotten to do and then do it. We're mixing the album with Gareth Jones at Castle Of Doom in a week and a half and then that should be us finished by April. So far it sounds really great but i would say that. SB |

Life is good So thats us one week into our recording session with Andy Miller at Chem 19 and i'm delighted to say that its going great. We'll also be announcing our first shows of 2008 in the next week or so. Rock Action is also preparing for a frenzy of activity too. The debut albums by Errors and Desalvo are currently getting finished up and we received the long awaited second record from James Orr Complex the other day too. I'm listening to it right now and its amazing. I also heard some new demos by Part Chimp and they are fantastic. Aren't we lucky boys! |

Happy New Year Happy new year to you all from all of us Mogwais. 2008 is setting itself as being a very busy year for us. this will be in stark contrast to 2007 which was pretty frustrating, idle and disappointing to be honest. Next month we go into the studio to finish recording our record. Its getting mixed in March and with any luck it'll be all done by the summer so that we can get back to playing concerts. I haven't had jet lag in ages, i can't wait!! Tomorrow night i'm DJ'ing at Stereo in Glasgow at the Spectrum (Sonic Boom, ex Spacemen 3) concert which should be fun. Stuart B |

Merch SaleWe've found some merch from tours long since past that we thought we'd sold out of but turns out we have a handful kicking around so seeing as Xmas is coming up we thought we'd have a sale... Click the LINK and it'll take you straight to the SALE page. Most of the shirts are like £6, however we literally only have one or two of some designs so it's pretty much first come first served.

November 18th 2007 Oh well, another glorious Scottish failure comes and goes. You'd think it would stop coming as a surprise but unfortunately it doesn't. No wonder we drink a lot. Anyways enough football related mopery i should probably write something to tell you what is happening with our band. We have resumed rehearsing (meeting up and talking rubbish and occasionally playing music). We have the studio booked to finish recording (Castle Of Doom is currently homeless) and we are going to get the record mixed in Spring. If everything goes to plan the record (provisionally titled "The Hawk Is Howling") should be out early autumn. It will probably have a song on it called "The Precipice". Martin and i are going to see The Sex Pistols tonight and i had veggie sausages and beans on toast for dinner. Oh Barry and me are dj'ing next Friday a Firewater in Glasgow. Stuart B |

Roll up! Roll up! Pacemaker for auction! The time has come folks, Martin's used pacemaker is on e-bay with the proceeds going towards the British Heart Foundation charity. Get bidding! Click the link here... |

Good news, Bad news Good news: Martin is on the mend and his Pacemaker will shortly be available for a morbid Mogwai fan to cherish via auction. Bad news: Celtic FC have unbelevably appointed failed politician, war criminal, sex pest and all round creep John Reid as their new chairman. Utter, utter disgrace. Stuart Braithwaite |

Annie Lennox has called her new album "Songs of Mass Destruction" That's really topical. Honestly though, I hope we come up with a better title for our new album than that. It's so half-arsed it makes "Mr. Beast" sound cerebral. Any suggestions are always welcome. Anyhow, Martin is recovering well thankfully and I'm sure he'll soon be the little animal drummer he always is. xxxx |
|
Pacemaker Auction 2007 Martin has in the last few hours come out of surgery fitting a new pacemaker. As happened last time we will have a charity auction for his old one with the proceeds going to the British Heart Foundation. Details will follow in the next few days. Get well soon Martin! Stuart |

New Songs (keys) On Tuesday and Wednesday Dominic and Martin Recorded a song in D Minor. "D Minor: Melancholy womanliness, the spleen and humours brood". Yesterday Martin and myself recorded a song in D major "The key of triumph, of Hallelujahs, of war cries, of victory rejoicing. Thus, the inviting symphonies, the marches, holiday songs and heaven-rejoicing choruses are set in this key". Today we are recording a song that Barry wrote in the key of A flat "grumbler, heart squeezed until it suffocates; wailing lament, difficuit struggle; in a word, the colour of this key is everything struggling with difficulty". Thanks to the internet for the descriptions of the keys. Stuart |

This Week Quite a busy week coming up. Aidan Moffat and the Best Of's are playing their first show tomorrow night in Glasgow opening for Slint and then on Tuesday Sonic Youth are playing Daydream Nation. We're also rehearsing before going to Paris. This week i will mostly be listening to Mum's new record "Go Smear the Poison Ivy", Peter Cook and Chris Morris "Why Bother?" and the new Stars of the Lid album. I'm also very excited about the new series of Saxondale. Stuart Braithwaite |
