Record Store Day 7"

A massive thanks to all the staff working in Record Store Day shops on Saturday and thanks also to those of you who queued to buy records and support your local stores.

It was pretty disappointing to see a handful of copies of our 7" with Bill Wells & Aidan Moffat end up on ebay but hopefully the majority of them went to people who wanted them. In case you missed out but still want to hear the tracks we're streaming them via the Rock Action soundcloud which you should be able to find here.

Hope you all had a great day and remember that these stores stock great records every day, not just one Saturday in April so please keep supporting them.

RSD UK split 7"

We're pleased to announce that our Rock Action Records label will be releasing an exclusive ltd 7" for Record Store Day in the UK this year. Limited to 500 copies it's a coloured 7" featuring a L.Pierre remix of 'Special N' and a Mogwai remix of Bill Wells/Aidan Moffat's 'The Copper Top'. As it's a Record Store Day release this is an exclusive 7", it won't be repressed so once it's sold out, that's it.

There will also be a Rock Action sampler that we'll be giving away for free on RSD as well (subject to availability etc).

Les Revenants - Ltd 10" pre-order

We're running a pre-order for the limited 10" version of the Les Revenants EP via our online shop. Click here.

Full disclosure, the 10" will be limited to 2000 copies worldwide, is pressed on standard weight vinyl and comes with a free download code to redeem mp3 versions of the tracks. Release date is 28th January and orders will be shipped around then.

Les Revenants EP - Digital version available now

To coincide with the final episodes of 'Les Revenants' airing tonight on Canal+ we're releasing the digital version of the EP today. iTunes link here though it's available from other digital outlets such as Amazon etc.

As previously announced the EP will be available physically as a ltd 10" (2000 worldwide) through Rock Action Records on January 28th with a full soundtrack album to follow on February 25th.

Les Revenants 10" and OST release dates

You might have heard us mention over the past few months that we've been in the studio. We've been working on music for the brand news show on Canal+ 'Les Revenants'. The first episode airs tonight (November 26th) at 20:55.

We're pleased to announce that we'll be releasing music from the show early next year. We'll have a strictly limited 10" (2000 only worldwide) out on January 28th and a full OST album released 25th February on CD, LP and Digital Download via Rock Action Records.

Hudson River Project

An Epic Recycled Kayak Ride Down New York's Great Waterway Soundtracked by Mogwai

Round-the-world cycling champion and adventure junky James Bowthorpe reunites with filmmaker Antony Crook to launch their latest audacious endeavor: rowing a boat constructed from New York’s refuse down the 315-mile length of the Hudson River. Today’s trailer was filmed over the course of several scouting missions to chart a route from the waterway’s highest source at Lake Tear of the Clouds in the Adirondack Mountains, down through the Hudson River Valley and into Manhattan. “We see cities as something separate from the wilderness, but the former evolved from the latter. I’m interested in the idea of how we set up these diametrically opposed state of minds,” Bowthorpe explains. “The Hudson River Project plays to this cyclic idea, charting the path that helped to build the megalopolis.” The full-length feature, which will be set to an original soundtrack by Scottish rock maestros Mogwai and starts filming this fall, will follow Bowthorpe collecting discarded materials and assembling his vessel before hauling the boat to the journey’s starting point on his bike. Having completed a similar journey along the Thames in London, the Hudson River’s long stretches of treacherous white water will pose new challenges for Bowthorpe, who has enlisted survival expert and outdoorsman Phil Wrigley to ghost him on the trip.

Mogwai ATP 2000 stream/download

On the 9th April 2000, Mogwai headlined and curated the first All Tomorrow's Parties festival. Today with the blessing of the band we are very excited to be able to put selected highlights from their set at that event up as a free download for ATP/Mogwai fans. The recordings include versions of classics like Stanley Kubrick, Year 2000 Non-Compliant Cardia and Mogwai Fear Satan as well as versions of Christmas Song and Our Father Our King featuring a string quartet.
